• 1. I’ve forgotten my password. What do I do?

    If you forget your password, click on the “connection” button on the upper right-hand corner of the homepage and on the link “forgot your password?” in the lower left-hand corner of the login popup. You will be sent an e-mail to reset your password.

  • 2. What configuration is required for proper operation of the CinEd player ?

    It is recommended to have a relatively recent computer (less than 3 years and regularly updated) for proper operation of the CinEd player.

    On desktop (PC / Mac)

    • Browser: Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Internet explorer well updated.
    • Avoid using other softwares during the screening.
    • Free up adequate space on your hard drive.

    PC - Windows

    • Processeur Intel Core i5 processor or faster.
    • Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8,1 and Windows 10.
    • RAM: 4 GB.

    Mac - OS

    • Processeur Intel Core i5 processor or faster.
    • Mac OS X v10.7 ou au-dessus.
    • RAM: 4 GB.


    REMARK: The CinEd player is not Linux-compatible.

    In order to check that you have a sufficient software configuration to properly use the CinEd player, please proceed to a configuration test. We will be able then to review the compatibility of the CinEd player with your operating system.

  • 3. I have issues to install the CinEd player, what should I do?

    The procedure to install the CinEd player:

    1. Log-in with your CinEd account.
    2. Click on your profile button at the right top of the web page. A scrolling menu should appear. Click on “Video player”.
    3. After having downloaded and installed the player, you’ll find a desktop shortcut of the CinEd player. For mac users: the player will appear in the Dock. Please choose the option “Keep in Dock” to facilitate your future utilisations.
    4. Click on the player and log-in with your CinEd account.

    If you encounter the “error 5000”:

    If you are part of an institution, your computer might be administrated by an IT service. In order for you to properly install the CinEd player, you have to use the administrator account of your computer.

    If you are not able to find the shortcut to the CinEd player after having installed it:

    Go on the Windows Start menu > Programs menu > cined > you should be able to see a shortcut named “player cined” > Right click on it and you will be able to click on “create desktop”.

  • 4. What equipment do I need for film screening?

    Video projector

    • For larger audiences (more than 200 seats), a Full HD 1080p projector.
    • For smaller audiences, HD 720p or standard projector.


    Do check to make sure that your video projector and computer are compatible.

    • For PC’s less than 2 years old: HDMI connector.
    • For PC’s more than 2 years old: check to see whether it has a VGA or HDMI connector. Use a compatible video projector.
    • For MAC: use a Mini DisplayPort adapter for an HDMI connection and a VDI adapter for a VGA connection, depending on your video projector.
  • 5. What should I do before a screening?

    Check the availability of the rights at the screening date (see “rights expire”).

    Make sure to install the CinEd player before the screening.

    Make sure to download the film before the screening and make sure to be plugged into the mains during downloading to avoid any disconnection.

    Proceed to a screening test in real conditions at least one week before the official screening to check: the subtitles, the audio, the length of the film file. This prior test is essential in order for our support team to assist you in time.

  • 6. What is the minimum Internet access speed for proper operation of the CinEd player?

    In order for you to know the speed of your connection, you can go on ariase.com.

    1st option: Streaming

    The minimum internet speed for film streaming is 1.5Mbs. Streaming must only be used in the case of a programmer’s viewing. As a reminder, for film screenings it is imperative to download the film file.

    2nd option: Download

    The slower or busier your Internet connection (sharing only one connection for several computers), the longer it will take to download a film.

    The time to download a film may vary from a few minutes to several days, depending on the speed and quality of your connection as well as the film length and format selected (SD or HD).

    Please make sure to be plugged into the mains during downloading to avoid any disconnection.

  • 7. I am facing an issue using the CinEd player, what should I do?

    If you encounter the error 2032:

    It means that your player is not up to date. In order for you to update your player::

    1. Click on this link:

      PC: Player Windows

      MAC: Player MAC

      You can also update your CinEd player directly from the CinEd platform. Once you are authenticated, you can click on your profile on the upper right-hand corner of the homepage and you will be able to download the last version of the player by clicking on “Video player”.

    2. You will have to close the player in order to finalize the update.
    3. If your problem remains, please contact our technical assistance (see question 9).

    If your viewing is halting, or if the CinEd player seems to run abnormally slow and you are facing a loss of synchronism:

    It might be due to processes running in the background. How can I check this and solve the issue?

    • On PC:
      1. Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager. You can also right-click on an empty area of the taskbar, and then click Task Manager.
      2. Click on the “Processes” tab. Here you'll find a list of processes running.
      3. Then click on the “CPU” column in order to sort by the percentage of CPU capability used by each process. If the CPU load exceeds a certain amount, it might mean that your computer does not have the capacity to do all the ongoing tasks.
      4. Identify the processes that are using an important amount of CPU. Right click these processes and then click on “End Process” to end them.
      5. Now proceed to a new screening test with the CinEd player in order to check if you are still facing some issues.
    • On MAC:
      1. Open the Activity Monitor from the Utilities folder of your Applications folder, or use Spotlight to find it.
      2. The CPU pane shows how processes are affecting CPU (processor) activity. Click the top of the “% CPU” column to sort by the percentage of CPU capability used by each process.
      3. Identify the processes that are using an important amount of CPU. Select the processes that are using a huge amount of CPU and then click on “Quit process” on the upper left-hand of the Activity monitor.
  • 8. How can I free up space on my computer?

    The films you have downloaded are saved on your computer.

    To delete films still on the CinEd player (downloaded less than 30 days ago), click on the trash/recycle bin symbol.

    Please note that films no longer visible on the CinEd player still remain on your computer. These films can occupy space in your hard drive, without being available on the player. In order to delete these films, identify the location of the file in which the films have been saved by clicking on “Modify the parameters” button. The file path will then appear. Locate this file via Explorer (PC)/Finder (MAC), where all the film files can be found. Then, delete the films you have selected.

  • 9. How can I contact the CinEd technical assistance?

    • Please fill the form in English, French or Spanish using the computer on which you plan to screen CinEd films.
    • Please be as specific as possible concerning your problem and the screening materials you are using.
    • Do not hesitate to make screenshots, that might be useful for the technical assistance with whom you’ll be in contact.
